Chapter 50: Not Fully Saved

Si Xiaonan patted her chest as she walked up behind Hong Ying, her expression still shaken.

“They look so scary.”

“Indeed, a bit.” Hong Ying nodded. “But their strength doesn’t seem impressive.”

As she spoke, she stomped her feet hard on the ground, launching herself forward like an arrow from a bow. The tip of her spear ignited with a rose-colored flame, trailing a fiery streak through the air!

“Hiss hiss hiss—!”

The monsters in the staircase, seeing Hong Ying charging, opened their fleshy monstrous heads again, revealing terrifying, gaping maws, ready to swallow her whole!

Hong Ying narrowed her eyes slightly, not slowing in the slightest. She actually charged straight toward one of the giant mouths!

Chomp!

The moment the monster’s maw was about to engulf Hong Ying, a fiery red spear gleam burst from the tip. The ignited rose-colored flame illuminated the entire dark staircase for an instant!

The next moment, a huge fireball erupted!

The spear tip easily sliced through the monster’s body. The flickering flames devoured the shattered flesh in the blink of an eye.

Hong Ying stood firm, casually slinging the spear over her shoulder. The flame at the tip still danced.

She let out a light laugh,

looked at the stunned monsters ahead, and provoactively waggled her finger.

“With just you few, even combined, you’re not enough for me to fight.”

Si Xiaonan clapped excitedly from the side: “Hong Ying jiě (sister) , so cool!”

The monsters roared, staring fixedly at Hong Ying. The next moment, more and more figures appeared at the stairwell entrances on both sides…

Some wore school uniforms, some casual clothes, some carried washbasins, some held books…

Their dark hair hung down, and pairs of eyes focused on Hong Ying in the center.

They just stared at her silently.

Drip, drip…

The sound of dripping water came from the bathroom not far away.

A faint rustling sound came from the ceiling upstairs.

The chatter of students echoed vaguely from outside the window.

Yet the entire staircase was deathly silent!

More and more girls crowded the stairwells on both sides. They stood there uniformly, like a silent army.

The scene was utterly chilling!

Si Xiaonan silently moved closer behind Hong Ying, drawing a straight knife from the black case in her hand, gripping it tightly.

“…Sixteen, seventeen, eighteen.” Hong Ying counted the numbers carefully, muttering to herself,

“Eighteen. That number is a bit troublesome…”

“But, only ‘a bit’.”

……

“Ruoruo, last class you said you wanted to drink AD Calcium. I happened to buy a bottle when I went to the convenience store just now. Here you go.”

In the classroom, Liu Yuan held out a bottle of AD Calcium milk to Han Ruoruo, who sat in front of him, his cheeks slightly flushed.

Han Ruoruo turned around, gave Liu Yuan a sweet smile, and took the milk.

“Thank you, Liu Yuan. You’re so good to me.”

Seeing Han Ruoruo’s smile, Liu Yuan felt elated. He immediately puffed out his chest and promised:

“Don’t worry, Ruoruo. Just tell me whatever you want to drink from now on. I’ll buy it for you!”

“Okay.” Han Ruoruo nodded, hesitated for a moment, then leaned close to Liu Yuan’s ear and said in a soft, sticky voice:

“Liu Yuan… um… after school, could you wait for me in the parking garage?”

“Ah?!” Liu Yuan seemed to think of something, his heart pounding wildly!

“I… I have something I want to tell you…”

Han Ruoruo’s pretty face flushed crimson. She gave him a charming glance, saying everything without words.

Liu Yuan nodded excitedly!

“Okay! After school tonight, I’ll definitely wait for you!”

Just then, Han Ruoruo froze, as if she had sensed something. She suddenly stood up.

“What’s wrong, Ruoruo? Where are you going?” Liu Yuan asked, puzzled.

“I just remembered I forgot something. I need to go back to the dormitory.” All traces of softness vanished from Han Ruoruo’s face. She coldly tossed out the sentence and started walking toward the door.

At that moment, a young man walked up to her desk, blocking her path.

“Lin Qiye?” Seeing who it was, Liu Yuan frowned slightly.

Annoyance flashed in Han Ruoruo’s eyes, but it was quickly replaced by a simple and innocent smile.

“Classmate Lin Qiye, is there something you need?”

Lin Qiye directly ignored Liu Yuan’s gaze. After a moment’s thought, he said quietly:

“Actually, I’ve liked you for a long time.”

Han Ruoruo was stunned.

Liu Yuan nearly spat out blood. He resolutely stood up, stared at Lin Qiye, and said:

“Lin Qiye, don’t be like this. Han Ruoruo already likes someone else. You can’t pester… mmmph mmmph…”

Before Liu Yuan could finish, Lin Qiye pushed him back into his seat and, in the same motion, covered his mouth with his hand.

Han Ruoruo processed this for a moment, seemed to reach a conclusion, and two blushes suddenly appeared on her cheeks.

“Um… um, so…?”

“Be my girlfriend.” Lin Qiye naturally said the next line.

Whoa whoa whoa!!!

Lin Qiye’s voice wasn’t loud, but the impact of these words was clearly immense. The whole class heard him, and immediately erupted in excitement!

“Wow! I never thought Lin Qiye liked Han Ruoruo’s type.”

“Couldn’t tell!”

“But, looking carefully, Han Ruoruo is indeed quite pretty.”

“But obviously Lin Qiye is handsomer.”

“Wow! So domineering! I love it!”

“Pity, pity. Look at Liu Yuan’s expression… It’s priceless!”

“I agree! Get together! Get together!”

“Get together!”

“…”

Amid the uproar, Han Ruoruo lowered her head, as if examining her toes, her face red to the tips of her ears.

After a moment, she answered in a voice as thin as a mosquito’s:

“Then… alright.”

Beside them, Liu Yuan stared at her in disbelief, as if struck by lightning!

His world… had collapsed.

Lin Qiye nodded expressionlessly. “Since that’s the case, see you in the garage tonight.”

“Okay…”

Lin Qiye released his hand from covering Liu Yuan’s mouth. The latter sat there like a statue, staring dumbly at the blushing Han Ruoruo, not moving a muscle.

Lin Qiye glanced at him and walked away silently.

Li Yifei, who had witnessed the entire process, walked up to Lin Qiye and said quietly:

“Qiye, why did you save him? He pushed you before…”

“I really didn’t want to save him. If it were the old me, I definitely wouldn’t have bothered.” Lin Qiye patted his shoulder. “But who told me I’m on the job now…”

“I don’t want to save him, but from the Night Watchman’s perspective, saving people is necessary.”

“So, I saved him, but not completely.”

Li Yifei was stunned. “What does that mean?”

Lin Qiye turned his head, looked at the stunned Liu Yuan, and said with deep meaning:

“Do you think, given his personality, he will give up pursuing Han Ruoruo?”

Li Yifei’s eyes widened. “You mean… he won’t give up?”

“Out of my duty as a Night Watchman, I saved him once.” Lin Qiye said calmly. “But if he still insists on delivering himself to his doom, then it’s none of my business…”

“By then, I might even applaud and cheer from the sidelines.”
