Chapter 15: 003

Zhao Kongcheng felt like he was about to explode from anger.

“Me?! You’re asking who I am?! I’m the innocent victim you tricked last night, left standing in the cold wind for half the night!”

Zhao Kongcheng locked onto Lin Qiye’s arm like a clingy boyfriend afraid of being stolen away. “Listen, don’t play dumb with me. You’re not getting away today!”

Lin Qiye glanced at his trapped arm and gave up struggling, resigning himself to his fate.

“Fine. Where do you want to talk?”

“Follow me.”

Still gripping Lin Qiye’s arm, Zhao Kongcheng strode confidently toward an unknown destination…

When Lin Qiye noticed they were approaching a love hotel, his face paled, and he immediately tried to bolt!

But Zhao Kongcheng wasn’t having it. With a firm yank, he dragged Lin Qiye toward the hotel entrance.

“Y-You… What are you planning?! I’m warning you, I have hemorrhoids—don’t try anything funny…!”

“…What the hell is wrong with you high school boys? We’re just talking.”

“Talking?! In a love hotel?! Did you not see the looks people were giving us?! I’m dying of embarrassment!”

“You don’t get it. This is a safe house. There’s no ulterior motive. And do I look like… like that kind of person to you?!”

Zhao Kongcheng rolled his eyes and hauled the struggling Lin Qiye to the front desk, where a stunned female clerk stood. With an exaggeratedly sleazy wink, he declared:

“One ‘Passionate Fantasy’ themed room, please.”

Lin Qiye: “……”

The clerk froze, her brain short-circuiting briefly before she suddenly became inexplicably excited.

“Y-Yes, sir! I’ll need your ID, and… uh, this young gentleman’s as well.”

Forced to hand over his ID, Lin Qiye shot the clerk a weird look as she practically vibrated with barely contained glee. He could practically see the BL fantasies unfolding in her mind.

Not that he could blame her.

A middle-aged man dragging a teenage boy into a love hotel in the dead of night, booking a ‘Passionate Fantasy’ suite, and claiming they were just there to talk… Who would believe that?!

“Here’s your key. Room 3966. Enjoy your… stay!” The clerk beamed at Lin Qiye’s resigned expression, her eyes nearly disappearing into delighted slits.

Lin Qiye’s fists clenched.

“Quit dawdling. Let’s go.” Zhao Kongcheng tugged him toward the elevator.

Once inside the room, Lin Qiye—innocent as he was—took one look at the array of specialized equipment and realized…

Rich people really do live differently.

So this is what ‘passionate’ means!

Zhao Kongcheng locked the door and finally released Lin Qiye, plopping onto the motorized bed with a groan as his stiff muscles relaxed.

“Relax. We’re really just talking.” He chuckled at Lin Qiye’s wary expression.

Lin Qiye sighed and sat on the couch near the door. “What do you want to talk about?”

“You, of course.”

“Lin Qiye, male, 17, single, 175 cm tall, weight—”

“You know that’s not what I mean.” Zhao Kongcheng rubbed his temples, then pointed at Lin Qiye’s eyes. “I’m talking about these.”

Lin Qiye fell silent.

“You’ve met Michael?”

At those words, Lin Qiyue stiffened slightly. After a long pause, he nodded.

So this man knew far more than he’d let on. And the organization behind him… was anything but ordinary.

This also confirmed something crucial for Lin Qiye: the Seraph he’d seen on the moon a decade ago was none other than Michael, the Archangel.

Seeing Lin Qiye’s nod, Zhao Kongcheng finally relaxed, his gaze growing intense.

“Why did He choose you? What did He say? How much of His power can you use now?”

The questions came rapid-fire. Lin Qiye frowned and shook his head.

“Too many questions.”

Zhao Kongcheng coughed awkwardly. “Right, you must have plenty of your own. Then let me answer yours first. Ask away.”

Lin Qiye thought for a moment, then met Zhao Kongcheng’s eyes.

“Do the gods of myth… really exist?”

“Yes.” Zhao Kongcheng didn’t hesitate. “But not all of them.”

“What do you mean?”

Zhao Kongcheng leaned back, organizing his thoughts. “What do you think mythology is?”

Lin Qiye considered. “Ancient people’s spiritual beliefs? Their fears and fantasies about the unknown forces of nature?”

“Exactly.” Zhao Kongcheng nodded. “And that’s what everyone believed… until a century ago.”

“A century ago?”

“Right. Before the Fog appeared, there was no trace of gods in this world.” Zhao Kongcheng’s eyes narrowed. “But after the Fog enveloped the Earth… everything changed.”

September 1922—one year after the Fog’s emergence—a Daxia exploration team observed a massive dragon slowly flying over the Mariana Trench. It was humanity’s first recorded sighting of a mythological creature.”

“After research, it was confirmed to be Leviathan, the Chaos Dragon from the Bible—a being said to have been created by God. Its discovery shattered the Daxia government’s understanding of reality. They realized the world had become something entirely different.”

“At the time, the Fog had just appeared, and panic gripped the nation. To maintain stability, the government suppressed the discovery.”

“Leviathan, as the first confirmed mythological entity, was designated Code 001. As more creatures were observed, the numbering continued.”

“The Seraph Michael, whom you’ve seen, was the third confirmed entity in 1928—designated Code 003.”

“1928?” Lin Qiye blinked. “But we hadn’t even achieved spaceflight by then. How did they find an angel on the moon?”

“We didn’t.” Zhao Kongcheng shook his head. “March 1928—a golden sword-light shot from the moon, crossed space, and leveled a volcano in North America. Only then did we realize a god resided there.”

“North America? What was there?”

“A year later, an expedition reached the ruins of that volcano. Buried within… they found Code 004.”

Zhao Kongcheng paused.

The Fallen Angel… Lucifer.
