TWOD 15
Chapter 15: The Talent Sprites
Su Ye placed the money bag and the short sword on the altar, holding his breath and watching closely.
Nothing happened.
“Is it broken?” Su Ye patted the altar with his hand and then kicked it, using a trhttps://orangenuna.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/the-two-sportsmen-greeting-outdoor-CVU6WZW-scaled-1.jpgional and universally accepted method of repair. It had no effect.
Su Ye picked up the bronze short sword.
Nothing.
He put it back down and picked up the money bag. Still nothing.
Su Ye stared at the altar for a long time, but he still didn’t try to step onto it. He was unwilling to give up on this potential treasure right in front of him.
After some thought, Su Ye mentally commanded to return.
Su Ye was back in his bedroom. The money bag and the bronze short sword were not in his hands.
“Hmm… Even if the altar is broken, it could still be a storage space. Not even the headmaster of Plato Academy would have a storage space this large, aside from his legendary mage tower.”
Although Su Ye thought this, he didn’t stop there. He reached out and touched his bed. “I want to take the bed into the ruin space…” Su Ye began to imagine the headless statue.
He was successful.
Next, Su Ye went into “moving mode.” He moved everything in the house, except for the things in the living room, into the ruin space.
After that, Su Ye took turns placing each item on the altar.
Nothing happened.
Next, Su Ye began stacking all the items on the altar.
Still nothing.
“Sigh…”
Su Ye sighed, finally admitting that either the altar was broken or these items were not worthy of being sacrificed. So, he silently moved all the items back to their original places, working up a sweat.
“How am I supposed to use this ruin space and this mystehttps://orangenuna.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/woman-traveling-in-france-2023-11-27-05-16-47-utc_Easy-Resize.com_.jpgus altar?” Su Ye thought quietly.

In the backyard of the Dolphin River restaurant.
“…And that’s what happened.” Hark stood in front of Kelton, giving a detailed account of everything that had happened, from following Su Ye to arriving at his house.
Kelton sighed lightly. “That is the power of a supehttps://orangenuna.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/woman-traveling-in-france-2023-11-27-05-16-47-utc_Easy-Resize.com_.jpgr mind. Su Ye has planted the seed of fear in Ravens’ heart. Even if he can kill Su Ye in the future, he’ll be extremely careful. In front of Su Ye, my logic tells me he’s setting a trap to lure me in. But my intuition tells me I must step into the trap and bet on him.”
Hark remained silent.
“Do you have a problem with that?” Kelton asked with a slight smile.
Hark shook his head. When he had helped Su Ye find the city guards, Hark had vaguely sensed what was happening. It was only when Ravens asked who had sent him that he fully understood. Because Su Ye had shown greater value and higher potential, Kelton had agreed to Su Ye’s request for protection. However, protecting Su Ye was not without a cost. Not only could he be killed, but if Ravens’ powerful backer came after him, Kelton would have to abandon him. Hark knew that in the transaction between Su Ye and Kelton, he had been a bargaining chip. That’s why Su Ye had said those comforting words to him before leaving, hoping he wouldn’t resent Kelton.
Kelton didn’t explain. He simply looked at the starry sky and said, “I was originally going to give him those 100 Golden Eagles as a loan, but now I’ve changed my mind. That money is already his property. It’s my second investment in him.”
Hark’s mouth twitched. “Are you asking if he’ll pay it back in ten years?”
“Are you really asking if he’ll give you back your magic short sword?” Kelton asked with a laugh.
Hark remained silent.

Back in Su Ye’s house, in the ruin space.
Su Ye took a deep breath, looking at the bronze short sword and the money bag in his hands. He thought, “I’ll try one last time! If it doesn’t work, I give up!”
He approached the altar again and placed the bronze short sword on it. The altar had no reaction.
Su Ye sighed and threw the money bag onto the altar, ready to leave the moment it landed.
The altar lit up! The entire altar suddenly emitted a faint white light. Then, a small amount of white mist rose from the money bag and flowed into the altar. The innermost metal ring of the altar suddenly burst into a brilliant light that was too bright for Su Ye to look at.
After the intense light faded, the first ring slowly began to turn, making the sound of a metal wheel grinding on the ground. The mystehttps://orangenuna.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/woman-traveling-in-france-2023-11-27-05-16-47-utc_Easy-Resize.com_.jpgus black and gold runes on it shimmered and swam around like tadpoles.
Then, the center of the altar projected a white beam of light upward, and four small, thumb-sized humanoid sprites appeared in the light. Each sprite had its eyes closed, its hands wrapped around its knees. Their bodies were transparent, with tiny specks of starlight surrounding them, and they each had a pair of translucent wings.
“These are… Talent Sprites? This means…” A look of ecstasy appeared on Su Ye’s face.
Talent Sprites were not a type of lifeform, but a very rare power. Some people were born with them, while others gained them through cultivation, magical refinement, or as a gift from a god. Each Talent Sprite granted a specific talent, and possessing one was the same as possessing that talent.
Su Ye moved closer to examine them. Sure enough, the wings of three of the sprites were covered in triangular magic patterns, which meant they were basic Talent Sprites. The wings of the fourth sprite were covered in square magic patterns, which meant it was a Battle Body Talent Sprite.
Su Ye took a deep breath to calm his emotions and carefully examined the four sprites. As he focused on each one, he automatically knew what talent it possessed.
After examining all four, Su Ye was a little confused. When he was very young, he had been tested for divine bloodline. The result was that his divine blood was so thin as to be almost nonexistent, and the possibility of activating divine power was minimal. If he wanted power, he could only pursue the path of a mage. So, Su Ye had wanted to be a mage since he was a child.
The problem was that the talents of these four sprites had nothing to do with being a mage. One was Musical Awakening, which allowed a person to become proficient in music. Another was Pleasant Voice, which made one’s singing or speeches incredibly captivating. A third was Sculptor’s Hand, a skill possessed only by famous sculptors. The last one was the Magical Bull Body, which greatly enhanced a person’s physique, allowing an ordinary person’s body to grow to the equivalent of a Bronze Warhttps://orangenuna.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/woman-traveling-in-france-2023-11-27-05-16-47-utc_Easy-Resize.com_.jpgr without using divine power.
“What is this all about?” Su Ye stared at the four sprites for a long time, his emotions a mess.
If he were to pursue an artistic path, any of the first three talents would be a solid foundation and incredibly useful for his growth. If he were to become a warhttps://orangenuna.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/woman-traveling-in-france-2023-11-27-05-16-47-utc_Easy-Resize.com_.jpgr, the Magical Bull Body was simply perfect for him.
Su Ye didn’t want to be an artist or a warhttps://orangenuna.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/woman-traveling-in-france-2023-11-27-05-16-47-utc_Easy-Resize.com_.jpgr. He only wanted to be a mage. He shook his head helplessly. It seemed he had no other choice. He could only choose the Magical Bull Body. A strong body was also very important for a mage.
“I… I’m not going to become a legendary tank mage, am I?”
Su Ye shuddered at the thought and quickly pushed it out of his mind. Then he tentatively focused on the last Talent Sprite and mentally chose it.
