Chapter 40: Mortal Divine Realm

Afternoon.

Wen Qimo sat idly in the Forbidden Ruin testing area, glancing at the time.

“This kid… why isn’t he here yet?”

As soon as the words left his mouth, a figure slowly pushed open the door and shuffled toward him like a zombie…

“Holy sh*t!” Wen Qimo exclaimed at the sight of the newcomer. “Qiye, you… what happened to you?”

Lin Qiye, his face bruised and swollen, waved a hand weakly, about to say something when his legs gave out, nearly sending him crashing to the ground.

Wen Qimo hurried forward to steady him. “You sparred with the captain?”

“Yeah.”

“Hmm… seems like you’re not too bad, talent-wise.”

Lin Qiye stared into his eyes. “You call this ‘not too bad’?”

“The first time I sparred with the captain, I was sprawled out on the training grounds for a full day and night before I could move again.” Wen Qimo sighed. “The only one who can hold her own against the captain in close combat now is Hong Ying.”

“I heard Zhao Kongcheng was a melee master? Couldn’t he do it?”

Wen Qimo fell silent for a moment before speaking slowly. “His fights with the captain weren’t ‘holding his own’—they were evenly matched. Of course, that’s only when neither of them used their Forbidden Ruins.”

“Alright…”

Lin Qiye gritted his teeth against the pain and forced himself to stand. If someone lifted his clothes, they’d see his body covered in dark bruises.

Chen Muye’s blade was too fast, too heavy, too ruthless!

And… he didn’t seem to hold back at all.

“Don’t worry, go find Xiao Nan for some healing later. You’ll be ready to get beaten up again tomorrow morning.” Wen Qimo reassured him.

Lin Qiye: “……”

“Now, let’s begin the lesson.” Wen Qimo cleared his throat.

Lin Qiye straightened up.

“First, we’ll start with what a Forbidden Ruin is—”

“Zhao Kongcheng already explained that to me.”

“Fine, then let’s talk about Divine Ruins—”

“Already covered that too.”

“Alright, how about Forbidden Ruins derived from objects—”

“Yep, that too.”

Wen Qimo: “……”

“Just how much did that guy secretly tell you…?” Wen Qimo rubbed his temples. “What about the Forbidden Ruin Sequence? Did he mention that?”

“No, he didn’t.”

Wen Qimo breathed a sigh of relief and began, “The so-called Forbidden Ruin Sequence is a ranking system humans use to classify the danger levels of Forbidden Ruins. Like the God Codes, it starts from 001—the lower the number, the more dangerous the Ruin.”

“Is it the same as the God Codes?”

“No. The God Codes are assigned based on the order in which deities were discovered, unrelated to their actual combat strength or threat level. The Forbidden Ruin Sequence, however, is purely a danger ranking.”

“Got it.”

“Forbidden Ruins ranked 600 and above are called ‘Harmless Ruins.’ Their effects are minimal—at best, they can water plants, kill mouth bacteria, or conjure up a stick of spicy jerky out of thin air.

“Those ranked 400 to 599 are ‘Low-Risk Ruins.’ They possess offensive capabilities but aren’t particularly dangerous. Used well, they can have surprising effects.

“From 200 to 399, they’re classified as ‘Dangerous Ruins.’ These can pose a large-scale threat to human society and are capable of engaging in combat against supernatural entities.

“The 90 to 199 range is ‘High-Risk Ruins.’ These can cause massive societal threats and possess extraordinary combat power. Most who wield these are elite fighters—like our captain, whose Ruin falls in this bracket.

“As for those ranked 89 or lower… they’re called ‘Ultra-High-Risk Ruins.’ These either possess devastating large-scale destructive power or abilities so bizarre they defy logic. In short, Ruins of this level have completely transcended the realm of ‘human’—they can annihilate entire cities in an instant!”

Wen Qimo emphasized again: “This isn’t an exaggeration. A few years ago, a powerful mythical beast appeared in the northwestern desert, wielding the Forbidden Ruin #063, [Rakshasa’s Desert]. It nearly buried several surrounding cities in a sandstorm before a special squad arrived and eliminated it.”

Lin Qiye froze. “I remember Zhao Kongcheng once said his Forbidden Ruin was #083…”

“[Annihilating Moonflash], ranked among the Ultra-High-Risk Ruins. Even though it’s near the bottom, it’s still incredibly rare.” Wen Qimo’s expression darkened slightly. “If he’d truly been born with that Ruin… maybe he would’ve joined a special squad long ago and become a general.”

“So these are the Ruin rankings? What about Divine Ruins?” Lin Qiye asked curiously.

“Divine Ruins are a subset of Forbidden Ruins, so they’re also included in the sequence.” Wen Qimo paused, giving Lin Qiye an envious glance. “Of the top 30 Forbidden Ruins, 23 are Divine Ruins.

“The power granted by gods is naturally beyond what mortals can match. Whether in lethality or uniqueness, they far surpass human imagination.”

“But that means, in the top 30, there are still seven human-held Ruins?”

“Yes.” Wen Qimo’s eyes gleamed. “In fact, among the top five, one belongs to a human!”

“Which one?”

“No idea.”

“……”

“Don’t look at me like that. I haven’t been with the Night Watch for long—how would I know such classified info?” Wen Qimo shrugged innocently.

“Then what about my Ruin?” Lin Qiye pointed at himself. “What’s its ranking?”

Wen Qimo glanced at him and spoke solemnly:

“God Code #003, the Divine Ruin of the Seraph Michael—[Mortal Divine Domain].

“Its Forbidden Ruin Sequence is also #003.”

“Forbidden Ruin #003, [Mortal Divine Domain]…” Lin Qiye murmured to himself.

“But don’t get too excited. #003 is the Seraph’s Ruin ranking, not yours, Lin Qiye.” Wen Qimo added. “Only in the hands of the Seraph is it truly #003.

“In the hands of a rookie like you who’s just stepped into the supernatural, its power might only qualify as a High-Risk Ruin.

“Only in the future, when your strength reaches a level comparable to the gods themselves…

“Will it be #003.”

Lin Qiye nodded. “I understand.”

“Oh, I have one more question.”

“Go ahead.”

“Can one person… become the agent of multiple different gods?”

“Impossible.” Wen Qimo shook his head without hesitation. “At least in human history, there’s never been such a precedent.”

“Oh.” Lin Qiye nodded.

Well, starting now, there is.

Aside from the Seraph’s [Mortal Divine Domain], Lin Qiye also possessed [Starlit Dancer], obtained from the Goddess of Night. In a way, he was the agent of two gods.

Of course, this wasn’t something he could reveal yet. If the higher-ups in the Night Watch found out and decided to dissect him for research, he’d be done for.

At least for now, he was too weak. Maybe one day, when he was strong enough, he wouldn’t care who knew.

“Now that the basics are covered, let’s talk about your Ruin.” Wen Qimo clapped his hands. “What can your [Mortal Divine Domain] do at its current level?”

“Within a 20-meter radius centered on me, I can perceive everything.”

“Oh?” Wen Qimo raised an eyebrow. “What color is Hong Ying’s underwear today?”

“White.”

The two men locked eyes in the testing area for a brief moment…

Then grinned at each other.
