Chapter 41: Incomplete Divine Ruins

“A top-tier reconnaissance and combat support ability. The advantages may not be obvious now, but as your strength grows, it should develop into something truly terrifying.”

Wen Qimo recorded the information while speaking.

“What else?”

“My dynamic vision is several times better than before.”

“Close-quarters combat enhancement—good. Anything else?”

“I can channel a trace of the Seraph’s divine might, but it consumes a huge amount of mental energy.”

“Hmm, most divine agents have that ability. Anything else?”

“That’s it.”

“……That’s it??”

Wen Qimo looked up in shock. “Just these?”

“These are all the powers the Seraph gave me.” Lin Qiye answered honestly—in a way, he was telling the truth.

Wen Qimo frowned slightly, pondered for a moment, then shook his head repeatedly. “No, no… this doesn’t add up. This is [Mortal Divine Domain] we’re talking about! Even at the ‘Flicker’ stage, its displayed power should far exceed this!”

“You mean… my current abilities are incomplete?” Lin Qiye was taken aback.

Wen Qimo nodded. “Let me put it this way—the agent of Athena in the ‘Phoenix’ squad could punch down a building and tear apart a ‘Pond’-level mythical creature barehanded the moment she reached the ‘Flicker’ stage.

“Your abilities are decent… but just decent. Most importantly, everything you’ve shown so far is combat support-oriented!

“But… this is Michael’s Divine Domain! How could it only be this weak?”

Lin Qiye stared blankly at his hands. “But I really only sense these abilities.”

Wen Qimo thought for a moment, then continued, “There are two possibilities. First, the Seraph only gave you a small portion of its power when choosing you as its agent. Right now, I think this is the most likely scenario.

“Second, the rest of your Divine Ruin’s abilities have always been there—you just can’t perceive them yet, or you’ve subconsciously overlooked them.”

“Subconsciously overlooked?”

“For example, imagine if your ability was breathing through your skin. Because you’ve used it for so long, you’ve grown completely accustomed to it. Over time, even though you’re still using it, you start ignoring it unconsciously—because using it has become instinctive.”

“So you’re saying I might have been using this ability all along without realizing it?”

“Exactly. Think carefully—have you ever noticed anything different about yourself growing up?”

Lin Qiye pondered for a moment. “Being blind?”

“……That doesn’t count.” Wen Qimo sighed helplessly. “Personally, I still lean toward the first possibility—that the Seraph didn’t give you the complete Divine Ruin from the start.

“After all, this is the Seraph’s Divine Ruin. Even if the second theory were true, you shouldn’t still be this… ordinary. You should be able to sneeze and send a crowd flying.”

Lin Qiye: “……”

“Anyway, earlier I estimated your current [Mortal Divine Domain] to be around High-Risk level. Seems I overestimated you. Based on what you’ve shown, it’s more like standard Dangerous level.”

Wen Qimo jotted down a few more notes on the file, then comforted him, “But don’t lose heart. As your strength grows, more abilities will gradually manifest. After all, you’re the Seraph’s agent—it won’t let you embarrass yourself.”

Lin Qiye shrugged. “Hope so.”

Though slightly disappointed, Lin Qiye wasn’t too disheartened. With the Asylum of Gods in his possession, he wasn’t entirely reliant on the Seraph—after all, six other deities were locked inside, waiting for him to choose.

“Now that we’ve got a basic grasp of your abilities, it’s time to start training.” Wen Qimo finalized the file and quickly drafted a training plan.

“How do we train?”

“Overall, your current abilities lean toward ‘perception’ and ‘prediction.’ Compared to flashy, explosive abilities, this type is much easier to train—you just need to let your body gradually adapt to them.”

Wen Qimo pointed to the room behind him. “Inside is a mechanized chamber equipped with 39,000 hidden micro rubber guns. It can fire between 1 to 39,000 rubber bullets per second. Though the bullets are slightly slower than real ones, they’re more than enough for your current level.

“Your task is to stand inside and use your perception and dynamic vision to dodge as many bullets as possible.

“Considering your level, we’ll start with 50 bullets per second.”

Lin Qiye glanced at the room and nodded. “Got it.”

Pushing the door open, Lin Qiye stepped into the center of the room. As he observed the densely packed gun barrels covering the walls like a honeycomb, that familiar sense of foreboding crept up on him again…

“Wait—why are there gun barrels on the floor too?! What if they hit… sensitive areas?!” Lin Qiye’s face paled as he stared at the sea of gun holes beneath him, a chill running down his spine.

“In real combat, danger can come from anywhere. There are no ‘sensitive areas.'” Wen Qimo’s voice echoed from all directions. “If you’re ready, we’ll begin.”

Lin Qiye slowly closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

“Start.”

Beep—!

Whoosh whoosh whoosh…

The moment the signal sounded, rubber bullets rained down from all directions in Lin Qiye’s perception—far too fast for the naked eye to track!

Lin Qiye reacted instantly, leaping backward twice to evade most of the bullets, but another wave followed, their trajectories impossibly tricky.

Though his perception allowed him to predict the bullets’ paths, there was a limit to how many he could track simultaneously.

It was like asking someone to catch a rolling ping-pong ball—easy enough. Three balls? Still manageable.

But twenty balls rolling in different directions at once? The brain simply couldn’t process them all in time.

That was Lin Qiye’s dilemma.

Within three seconds of training, over a dozen bullets had already struck his body. Though rubber bullets weren’t lethal, their speed made the impacts sting.

And so, he finally grasped the true essence of this training…

“Dammit, why does everything involve getting beaten up?!”

Activity Room.

Chen Muye, wearing an apron and gloves, carefully carried a steaming bowl of bone broth to the table and set it down…

Gulp. Hong Ying’s eyes widened as she swallowed hard. “Captain, how long has it been since you last cooked? Did the sun rise from the west today?”

Beside her, Wu Xiangnan smiled. “Haven’t you realized? This is mainly for Lin Qiye. We’re just along for the ride.”

“Uncle Chen, you’re biased!” Si Xiaonan pouted.

Chen Muye’s eye twitched slightly as he replied flatly, “I just got tired of eating takeout and wanted a change of pace. It has nothing to do with that kid.”

“Oh, is that so?” Hong Ying’s eyes sparkled as she reached her chopsticks toward the broth. “Then I won’t hold back—heehee…”

Smack!

Chen Muye smacked her hand away with his own chopsticks and said coolly,

“Lin Qiye isn’t back from training yet. Everyone, wait.”

Hong Ying: ε(┬┬﹏┬┬)3 Captain, you don’t love us anymore…
